Everything you need for kids you can find at Wee Swap!
Tagging InstructionsPlease Follow These EXACTLY!
New Tagging Guideline Consignors, please DO NOT attach tags to your large items (such as furniture, ride-on toys, equipment) before checking in. Simply print or write tags for your large items and bring them with you to Drop-Off. We have a special system for these tags and will assist you in attaching them during check-in.
Correctly tagging your items is the most important thing you can do to ensure that you receive full credit for all of your sales, and the best way to ensure that your tags meet all Wee Swap requirements is to use our Consignment Tag Creator program.
Tag Creator is custom-designed to help automate the task of creating your tags for Wee Swap. The program provides a simple, easy-to-use form for entering all of your tag information and for printing your tags on your own printer - complete with barcodes! This program will simplify the process of creating your tags, save you time at drop-off and give you professional looking tags as well. Simply download this free program, install it on your PC and start creating and printing your tags at home. Even if you use Tag Creator, please take a few minutes to read through the instruction below as they contain additional information that will help ensure a successful experience as a Wee Swap consignor.
If you prefer to create your tags by hand, please carefully read and follow all of the guidelines below when tagging your items and refer to the Tag Illustrations below for examples. If you want to save yourself a lot of time at Drop-Off, be sure to use our Express Check-In Service.
Finally, if you simply don't have the time to price and tag all of your items yourself, then take a look at our Drop N' Run personal consignment service where we'll do all the work for you!
Instructions for Creating Wee Swap Tags
|

|
Cards: |
If creating tags by hand, PLEASE USE 3x5 INDEX CARDS! If printing out on a computer, use ONLY heavy weight paper or card stock (65 lb. cover weight or higher) and cut into individual 3x5 tags. Tags printed on normal printer paper will be rejected at Drop-Off as they tear off easily and become separated from your item. Please see our Tag Illustrations below for details on to arrange the information on your cards. | ||||
| Pins: | Use medium to large safety pins ONLY! No small gold pins or straight pins - they WILL fall off! Be sure to attach your safety pin horizontally ABOVE the cutting line on your cards. | ||||
| Hangers: |
Please use wire hangers if at all possible - plastic ones break and clothes
end up on the floor. Plastic coated wire hangers are fine - check with your
dry cleaners or the dollar store if you need supplies. Wal-Mart
carries them if you check early! If you
do not wish to purchase infant wire hangers, you may bend the ends of the
larger hangers before placing your clothing item on the hanger, or pin
garment by both shoulders to the outside of the hanger.
The hanger hook should face to the left with the tag pinned onto the right side of the garment as you face it. Pin clothing-sets together on one hanger, with the pants or skirt pinned to the outside so both pieces can be viewed. Pin pants and skirts onto the top side of the hanger to keep them from sliding to one side. Please see our Tag Illustrations below for examples. Please note that we do not accept clothing in zip lock bags. Shoppers want to see what they are buying - even blankets and bibs, etc. will sell better on hangers. |
||||
| Consignor #: | Make sure that your consignor number is correct and on every item you bring. Do not make corrections on a tag - make a new tag if this is necessary. Double check at drop-off to make sure we have gotten your consignor number correct on all your barcode labels (see below). Your profit depends on this information! | ||||
| Size and Description: | Please use a size and not just S, M, or L. Give a short description on your tag in case it becomes separated from the item. Ex: "girl's blue Oshkosh jumper w/ print blouse," rather than "jumper with shirt" will help in matching items with lost tags - and there's always a few! | ||||
| Price: |
You set the prices of the
items that you bring. Price to sell! In order to make the most of
our rack space, all hanging items must have a
minimum price of $3.00. If you do not feel your item is worth
$3.00, consider making it part of a set.
Please don't overprice--for clothing, we suggest at
least 50% - 75% off of the
original retail price, depending on name brand & condition. Big ticket
items can bring more of their original price.
Please keep your prices in full dollar increments (no $1.99, $6.50, etc.). If you do not want an item to be sold at a discount during our 25% Off and Half-Price days, put the letters N.D. (No Discount) in the bottom right corner of your tag. |
||||
| Items other than clothing: | Group small items together in a zip-lock bag. Pin the 3X5 card to the OUTSIDE of the bag. Attach shoes to each other with pins, or string and attach your 3x5 card to the shoes. Use heavy tape to attach cards to non-clothing items. Scotch tape will not hold and your cards may become lost if not securely attached. Again, make sure the description is sufficient to match up in case the card becomes separated. | ||||
| Large Items: | We have started a new procedure for tagging large items such as furniture, ride-on toys, equipment, etc. Please DO NOT attach the tag to the large item yourself. Please write or print your large item tags and bring them with you to Drop-Off where we will help you attach them. This will help reduce errors from missing tags on what are generally our most expensive items. | ||||
| Barcode Labels: | The space in the lower left-hand corner of each tag is reserved for a barcode label that is used in the check-out process. Wee Swap will supply the barcode labels to consignors that are creating their tags by hand, but each consignor will be responsible for applying the labels to their own tags. We highly recommended that you use our Express Check-In Service where we mail your barcode labels to you in advance of the sale. This will allow you to attach the labels to your tags at home and save a tremendous amount of time at drop-off. For those who do not use Express Check-In, barcode labels will be printed at drop-off. It will be your responsibility to attach the labels before putting your items out on the sale floor. | ||||
| Sort: | Have your clothes arranged by size and sex. This will make drop-off faster and easier for you. | ||||

Additional Suggestions
Tag Illustrations
Following these instructions will help ensure you get proper credit and speed up check out for everyone. Thanks! (see more examples below)
Tags do not have to be printed out as this one is, but the professional appearance certainly helps make this item stand out from the others.
First, the pin is placed vertically, not horizontally. In the crush of shoppers taking items on and off the racks, a tag like this can easily come off. Secondly, the card is not laid out in a vertical format, and there is no 1-inch space at the top making it more difficult for our workers to cut off at check out time.
Appearance does matter. If they can be seen better - they'll sell better!
